The Venue

Hart House Restaurant is a Tudor style Mansion located on three acres of lawn overlooking beautiful Deer Lake in Burnaby. In operation as a restaurant and wedding venue for 20 years, it has been the location of unforgettable ceremonies & receptions.

Starting in mid-May of each year, wedding ceremonies and tented receptions for up to 250 guests are accommodated on our lawn between the mansion and the lake. All receptions take place in an elegant marquee tent, where your guests will dine with a view of the sunset reflecting off the tranquil water on Deer Lake. Luncheon bookings are also available in our Dining Room on Saturdays, with a garden ceremony.

Between October and May (autumn to early spring), our indoor banquet rooms can accommodate wedding receptions of up to 80 guests on the second Floor of Hart House, or up to 36 guests in our charming Lakeside Cottage, situated on the back lawn with a view of Deer Lake. Our Dining Room is available for Receptions for up to 80 guests.

Evening bookings start at 6:00pm and conclude at 12:00am. Tented daytime bookings start at 10:00am and conclude at 3:30pm. Extensions of bookings are available, but are subject to additional rental fees or minimums.

Deer Lake Park offers a wide variety of beautiful backdrops for wedding photography. Enjoy a photo session in the park while your guests mingle by the lake with cocktails and delicious hors d’oeuvres.

Services

Hart House Restaurant provides an event manager and a dedicated service team.  Tables, chairs, white linens including cloth napkins, china and flatware as well as all stemware are included. We provide any additional tables such as guest book, gift table or cake table as required. If you wish to select different types of chairs or linens we are happy to provide vendor recommendations and rental information.

Vendors & Décor

We will gladly provide a list of recommended vendors ranging from decorators to wedding commissioners; please note that Hart House has a list of DJs that must be selected from.

Our Event Planners

Our experienced event planners will assist you in planning all details of your special day. We will work with you to custom tailor your menu, wine choices, itinerary and all the little touches that ensure that your wedding is magical. With many years of experience in fine dining and event planning, we share a commitment to flawless service.

Wine

Our Wine Director Edwyn Kumar will enhance your dining experience by providing custom selections and choices to pair with your wedding reception menu. From BC to Australia and back to France our extensive wine program allows us to provide you with the finest wines the world has to offer. At Hart House Restaurant we believe there is no better way to start your event than with a glass in hand.

Cuisine

Our Executive Chef believes in designing a menu with local sustainability in mind, and that quality ingredients are essential in creating a fantastic dining experience. Our menu features Pacific Northwest Cuisine with a focus on the freshest regional and seasonal produce.

Hart House Restaurant provides all food and beverages, with the exception of wedding cakes. A $2.00 per person fee will be charged for the cutting and plating of wedding cakes. No charge will apply to cupcakes or faux cakes. Food and beverage minimum spend requirements apply to all bookings.

Menu Planning

All menu details are finalized one month prior to the event. If a plated menu is chosen, main course choices must be pre-ordered and submitted to Hart House no later than 10 days prior to the event. We recommend scheduling at least one face to face meeting with one of our planners before invitations are printed and mailed. Menu prices are subject to change; the availability of menu items can vary depending on the season. In lieu of menu tastings, we offer a complimentary dinner for the bride and groom in our restaurant, once the wedding is confirmed. This offer is subject to a minimum size of the planned event, and applies to food only.

Ceremonies

The Hart House offers outdoor wedding ceremonies on the estate grounds overlooking Deer Lake between May and September. Hart House provides all ceremony set-up including chairs and a signing table. We gladly recommend wedding officiants for any type of ceremony. Indoor Ceremonies are available with restaurant buyout bookings.

Bride’s Room

Hart House includes the use of a complimentary bride’s room only for tented and main floor dining room weddings. We are pleased to offer Champagne and a variety of snacks and beverages in your bridal room on request. The room is available one hour before the contracted booking time.

Rehearsal

A 30 minute ceremony rehearsal is permitted on the lawns, subject to availability, at no additional cost. All rehearsals are self-conducted.

Four-legged Family Members

We welcome your dog as a participant in your wedding ceremony and pictures; we offer dog handling and boarding services through reputable vendors. Please inquire for details and rates.
