Welcome Chef Soo Yoo

All the best, Chef Raul


Chef Soo Yoo was born in Korea, and grew up in Korea, Indonesia. and Canada.

While completing a degree in Accounting at BCIT he worked part time in Vancouver kitchens where he quicky discovered his passion and talent for cooking.

 Encouraged by colleagues and guests alike he enrolled in the culinary program at VCC. 

Soo added to his experience staging at l'Abbatoir and Hawksworth, and worked as a Sous Chef at Tableau Bistro, Maxine's and the legendary Pear Tree Restaurant in Burnaby before joining the culinary team at Hart House as Sous Chef under Raul Copete Vazquez.

Raul stepped away from his position to focus on teaching, so we were happy to have Soo take over the helm at Hart House in the summer of 2024.

Soo enjoys travelling and camping in the mountains of British Columbia.









So long, Chef Raul!


As Raul embarks on his new path as an educator, we look forward to welcoming him back into our culinary team on a casual basis.

Chef Raul will remain part of the Hart House family for as long as his commitments as a teacher will allow.


We wish him all the best on his journey. 

His students are so lucky!
