This Merlot comes from the South Lower Similkameen vineyards, located near the Okanagan Valley and surrounded by high narrow mountains that create strong winds and cool nights. Cooler nights increase the quality of these wines by maintaining acidity. There is also an increase in minerality found because of the Talisk cones surrounding the area. The combination of these characteristics result in the merlot having a deeper feel and more structure. In order to conserve all the qualities found in the fruit, great care is taken to only gently complement the aromas with the barrels and there is no filtering or refining of the wine. Ripasso, sometimes called double fermentation, is a method used to give more structure, body and flavors to the basic Valpolicella wine. Ripasso is now becoming very popular among wine enthusiasts. Valpolicella is also the region where the Amarone wine is produced. Introducing Erkan’s wine pick La Capilla Vendimia Seleccionada! This is one of my favourite wines! It has a rich dark purple color and a fresh, vibrant aroma filled with dark berries, plums, a hint of roasted oak, and spices. It tastes fantastic, offering a complex mix of concentrated dark fruits like blackberries and cherries, along with hints of pepper, clove, and cinnamon. There are also subtle touches of fine wood and tobacco. The texture is smooth yet robust, with ripe tannins and a nicely balanced acidity. It finishes strong and lasts a long time, making it a beautifully crafted wine that’s both powerful and nuanced. I highly recommend it if you enjoy wines with depth and character! This wine is from Ribera del Duero which is a renowned wine region located in the northern plateau of Spain, primarily within the Castile and León province. This region gained Denomination de Origen (DO) status in 1982, and since then, it has become known for producing some of Spain’s finest red wines, predominantly from the Tempranillo grape, locally known as Tinto Fino or Tinta del País.
