Dinner with Erkan - pairing Lamb Shank with Smith Montpetit Merlot🍷 . This Merlot comes from the South Lower Similkameen vineyards, located near the Okanagan Valley and surrounded by high narrow mountains that create strong winds and cool nights. Cooler nights increase the quality of these wines by maintaining acidity. There is also an increase in minerality found because of the Talisk cones surrounding the area. The combination of these characteristics result in the merlot having a deeper feel and more structure. In order to conserve all the qualities found in the fruit, great care is taken to only gently complement the aromas with the barrels and there is no filtering or refining of the wine.
